In honor of Recovery Month, Nevada’s Recovery and Prevention program (NRAP) is hosting its second Recovery 5k run/walk and celebration to promote community health and wellness, celebrate individuals who identify in recovery, and reduce the stigma often associated with the disease of addiction. The 5k event will provide an opportunity for participants to walk/run in honor of someone they know touched by this disease, followed by a recovery celebration for all participants. The celebration is free and open to the public regardless of 5k participation. The celebration will include a food, family activities, and local guest speakers and advocates who are in recovery. Community organizations will provide information on local services and present on relevant topics, including a Naloxone booth that will offer community members an opportunity to receive Naloxone training and the opioid overdose reversal medication.
