Memorial Flag Placement-

💜 In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day (Tuesday, August 31st), a small group of Overdose Prevention Fund volunteers will be planting 2,104 purple flags on the campus green to represent the lives lost to opioid-related overdoses in Massachusetts over the past year.

➡️ Dr. Kavita Babu, Chief Opioid Officer at UMass Memorial Health and Director of the Overdose Prevention Fund, will lead us through a brief ceremony of reflection and remembrance, as we support all who are grieving.
➡️ Amy Nichols, Certified Recovery Coach at UMass Memorial Medical Center, will share her experience, strength, and hope as a person in long-term recovery.
➡️ Ron Gigliotti, a Lieutenant with Worcester EMS, will discuss the naloxone (Narcan) leave-behind program, which is one of many ongoing efforts aimed at ending overdose deaths.
➡️ Dr. Erik Garcia, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Medical School and Medical Director of the Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Project, will close out the live session with an overview of Road to Care, a mobile clinic providing care to individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorder in Worcester, MA.
