The Lost Dreams Awaken (LDA) Center, a Pennsylvania 501c3 Nonprofit Recovery Community Organization, is gearing up to celebrate National Recovery Month (Recovery Month). Recovery Month is observed annually in the United States, aims to promote, and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and recognizes the dedication of service providers across the nation who make recovery in all its forms possible.
LDA endures to ensure that Recovery is Reality for Everyone and we stand with the SAMHSA published statement that “Being culturally competent and aware is to be respectful and inclusive of the health beliefs and attitudes, healing practices, and cultural and linguistic needs of different population groups. Behavioral health practitioners can bring about positive change by better understanding the differing cultural context among various communities and being willing and able to work within that context.”
LDA is proud to announce our 2023 Pennsylvania BIPOC Recovery Summit, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024. The Summit will celebrate, educate, and feature a host of special guests – including Michael Askew, Deputy Director of the Office of Recovery (SAMHSA), the Opioid Response Network, and a lively educational experience with Joseph Green, Education Consultant, Storyteller and Actor.
