Hands Across the Bridge is the largest national recovery month event on the west coast that is hosted by our nonprofit organization, Hands Across the Bridge Project.
Our board mission is about building leadership in the recovery community and this event is about celebrating the work that our recovery community has done to improve access to services, decrease stigma around addiction and mental health, and also to bring our community together to honor loved ones that have been lost to the disease of addiction and provide a place where everyone can find resources to support those in and seeking recovery.
We bring together leaders from our recovery community, elected officials, community organizations, treatment centers, and recovery support services of all kinds to our event.
We do a bridge walk and connect with This year we will be Narcan training everyone who is in attendance, and we will be handing Narcan kits to those who are interested.
We meet at Esther Short Park in Vancouver and Holiday inn in Janzen beach every year on Labor Day to kick off National recovery month at 10am. Our speaking portion ends at about 11:30am and we walk to the i-5 bridge to meet the other side of the bridge to say the serenity prayer at exactly 12pm. Immediately following our event is a free music festival in Esther Short Park and we have a wealth of resource booths and food vendors to continue our celebration until about 5pm.
